Staff and Governors at Kingsleigh Primary school in Bournemouth are pleased with the positive outcome of a recent Ofsted inspection.
The school, in Hadow Road, has now emerged from its Notice to Improve, a year after the last inspection. The inspection team were pleased with the progress made by the school and in particular with the improvements in writing and reading. The report identified that the school has developed "positive relationships with the community, parents and carers" and that there is a "strong drive for improvement."
Headteacher, Richard Gower said: "Our school has come a long way in a short space of time and this report reveals how hard everyone has worked. We are not cracking open the champagne, as there is still a lot to do; but the inspectors have acknowledged that we are doing a good job and that we are heading in the right direction."
There were many areas of the school that were graded "good" including:
* The quality of the Foundation Base
* The quality of pupils learning
* The quality of learning for pupils with special needs
* The extent to which pupils feel safe
* Pupils’ behaviour
* The effectiveness of care, guidance and support
* The effectiveness of the school’s engagement with parents and carers
* The effectiveness of governors
The school now needs to concentrate in particular on improving standards in maths, although Ofsted recognised that actions already being taken are having "a measurable and positive effect."
Councillor Malcolm Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Children's Services said: "This report is a credit to the pupils, staff, parents and governors who have all shown their commitment to the school to create a happy, healthy learning environment. We have every confidence that Kingsleigh Primary will be able to build on this success and continue to make improvements year on year."
