Local residents are being asked to have their say for planned improvements to Boscombe precinct.
Following a recent meeting between the Council and the police a decision has been made to remove the Boscombe fountain in order to improve the area as part of the Boscombe Regeneration project.
The fountain will be replaced with either bike racks or paving and local residents are being asked which they would prefer by voting online: www.bournemouth.gov.uk/boscomberegeneration.
Councillor David Smith, Cabinet Member for Communities said: “It is unfortunate that the Boscombe fountain has become a place which attracts litter and anti-social behaviour as well as being subject to ongoing vandalism. Despite every effort to maintain the fountain and keep it free from damage and litter we feel it would be better to remove it. We are determined to clean up the area and to make it a far more safe and pleasant place to visit and I would encourage local residents to have their say in order to help improve the precinct.”
The online vote will take place from Monday 15 March until Monday 22 March 2010 and residents can also vote using free internet access at Boscombe Library.
