This consultation leads on from the earlier Bournemouth Plan - Core Strategy Issues & Options consultation in 2009.
The objectives were to give residents and stakeholders in Bournemouth the opportunity to have an input in to the emerging Core Strategy. The document will be important in shaping the future of Bournemouth. The aim was to get views and opinions from a wide range of people and organisations on the Council’s preferred options for guiding future development in Bournemouth.
Some issues are set by central or regional government, for example targets for housing and employment. However, how these targets are met is for local consideration. National advice and guidance also has to be taken into account when preparing the document.
The consultation was open to all – individuals, organisations and businesses. A large number of groups and individuals on the Local Development Framework database were contacted as well as all organisations forming the Bournemouth 2026 partnership. All those who responded to the previous Issues and Options consultation stage were also contacted.
There were press releases in the Daily Echo and BH life to promote the consultation. People and organisations on the database were contacted by email or letter. Members of the Bournemouth 2026 Partnership were contacted by email. Documents and response forms were put in all libraries. Information was also available in community and leisure centres and other public places across the town. There was an online portal for people to make comments. Meetings took place during the consultation period with Area Forums.
