About this Consultation

Bournemouth Borough Council undertook public consultation on Knyveton Gardens following the latest Green Flag assessment which highlighted some areas of the garden that are in need of improvement.

A survey was posted to around 1000 households in the area asking questions based on current usage of the gardens and possible improvements of facilities.

In the survey, residents were encouraged to put forward their own ideas and comment on ideas put forward by the Council including; building a multi-use games area (MUGA) on one of the three tennis courts; resurfacing all the tennis courts and making them free for all to use; or making one of the three tennis courts a play area for young children. Another suggestion for the park was to introduce an informal grassy area.

Consultation took place during November and December.

In addition DOTS Disability carried out a Disability Access Survey.  The aim of this part of the consultation was to enhance accessibility in order to promote enjoyment of the gardens by all sections of the community.

Further to the full report and initial decisions (as detailed in the results section below) further consultation took place to discuss the play area plans:

In March, two public consultation sessions were held in Knyveton Gardens to discuss the play area plans further:
