Faith and Belief

Bournemouth 2026 is a partnership and its Vision recognises the very significant contribution made to the life of the town by the Faith and Belief Communities.

The Partnership has produced a number of Community Plans over the last few years that set out what partners think will improve the life of Bournemouth and clear plans as to how that might be achieved.  The latest is the Sustainable Community Strategy 2007-2011. http://www.bournemouth2026.org.uk/bournemouth-vision/

The Revd. Adrian Thomas, as the representative of Churches Together in Bournemouth on the Vision Board, conducted a survey of the Churches’ contribution to the first two Community Plans. This revealed the breadth of that contribution.

For the present Sustainable Community Strategy the Partnership has conducted a similar survey but with two significant differences. The first is that it was aimed at all the Faith and Belief Communities of the town. The second is that Kalee Clarke and Emma Denovan, students at Moorlands College, undertook the survey as a project for part of their studies.

In the past the survey has been conducted with the use of questionnaires through the post. This time Kalee and Emma visited the communities to learn more directly of the work being undertaken and the stories that lie behind it. A report has been produced of the survey results.

It is the intention of this project to celebrate the very significant contribution being made by the Faith and Belief Communities to our town and to share this as widely as possible.

The survey was undertaken between the 16th February until 12th March of this year and a copy of the final report is attached.

If you are a faith or belief community and you were not involved in the survey and would like to be involved in the future, please send your details to Lorna Trent.
