About this Consultation

The aim of this initial stage of consultation was to obtain feedback from key stakeholders on what they consider to be the main planning issues that need to be addressed in Bournemouth over the next 20 years or so.

Some issues are set by central or regional government, for example targets for housing and employment.  However, how these targets are met is for local consideration.

Amongst those consulted were stakeholders idenitified under Regulation 25, members of the Bournemouth 2026 partnership and other key stakeholders, particularly those involved in the delivery of infrastructure and services vital to the future development of the town e.g. utilities, transport services, emergency services etc.

Letters or emails were sent to the stakeholders with an enclosed leaflet which explained the background to the Core Strategy and asked for feedback on particular questions. This is the first stage of consultation and  future stages will utilise other methods.

For further information on The Core Strategy please visit the Bournemouth Borough Council website.

Results

The key response we received from respondents was that although there may be some issues in terms of infrastructure provision for the future, there appears to be no major problem that could not be overcome with appropriate investment. The future development of the town should not be hindered by infrastructure provision.

The findings will inform the subsequent Issues and Options document which is the next stage of the Core Strategy process. That document will go out to a wider general public consultation and will be followed by further stages of public consultation later in the process.

Feedback has already been provided to key stakeholders and a publicly available consultation statement will be prepared as a requirement of the Local Development Framework system.
