What we do

Kinson and West Howe Children’s Centre covers the council wards of Kinson North, Kinson South.  Kingsleigh Children’s Centre covers the council wards of Redhill and Northbourne, and Wallisdown and Winton West.  The aim is to promote the health and well-being of children from before birth until starting school.   They are managed by Action for Children in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council under the umbrella name of North Bournemouth Childrens’ Centres.

A range of free groups and activities are provided at different centres throughout the North Bournemouth area by a multi-disciplinary team based at Moore Avenue, West Howe.  Services for Kingsleigh are based at the Children’s Centre site in Hadow Road, East Howe.  The team includes support and outreach workers, early years workers, a parenting co-ordinator and speech and language workers.

There is an emphasis upon providing learning and development opportunities for parents which may encourage them to return to work once their children are old enough.

Park View Day Nursery is also part of the Centre and provides affordable day-care for children under 5 years.

Contribution to Partnership North Bournemouth Children’s Centres make a contribution to the work of all five partnership forums in meeting the targets for the Community Plan.
