What we do

The Supporting People team is committed to improving people's quality of life and to caring for those in need. We will actively support people to enhance their life chances and to be as independent as possible. We will work together to make the best use of all resources and encourage a society in Bournemouth in which everyone is valued and supported to achieve to the best of their ability. The intention of Supporting People is to increase personal independence and to enable vulnerable people to live satisfying and fulfilling lives with their local community.

Contribution to Partnership The Supporting People programme offers vulnerable people the opportunity to improve their quality of life by providing positive housing related support services, which enable people to have greater independence and choices within their life.

The Supporting People team is responsible for commissioning a range of support services for the following vulnerable client groups within Bournemouth:

Older people with support needs People with mental health problems People with learning disabilities People with a physical (or sensory) disability (including people with brain injury) Single homeless with support needs (including rough sleepers and travelers) People with substance misuse problems Offenders or people at risk of offending (including mentally disordered offenders) Young people at risk or leaving care Women at risk of domestic violence People with HIV/AIDS Homeless families in need of support (including teenage parents) Refugees Vulnerable people from black and minority ethnic groups Other v
