What we aim to achieve

Vision for 2026

The list below sets out our vision of what we would like life to be like in Bournemouth in 2026 for our theme 'Investing in People'. Click on an item below to find out what we aim to achieve by 2011.

Each of our five themes has a list of visions and goals for 2011.

The Investing In People Strategic Delivery Partnership, Change for Children Board and Neighbourhood Working Strategic Delivery Partnership make sure that partners are working towards these goals. The Investing In People Consultation Forum check that these partnerships are making a difference and highlight areas of concern. The Investing In People Action Plan sets out what partners have already achieved and future actions.

1.1 The quality of life for older people is good due to improved health and greater recognition of their contribution to the wider community.

1.2 Education and skills development are good. The gap has narrowed between the communities where children’s attainment is lower than others

1.3 Children and young people are safe, supported and are emotionally healthy

1.4 Good health, achievement and social outcomes for young people leaving care

1.5 Good quality of life for adults affected by a long term physical disability, a learning disability or mental illness

1.6 Traditionally marginalised and excluded groups feel welcome into mainstream society and share knowledge across generations and cultures and Bournemouth is free of prejudice

1.7 Local people have a greater choice and influence over local decision making and a greater role in public service delivery

1.8 A range of cultural activities and experiences are available which positively improve the quality of life

1.9 The basic skill levels of people are above the national average and continue to rise
