What we do	Home-Start (Bournemouth & Poole) recruit local volunteers to work with local families – our core work is home-visiting. Volunteers build on the strengths of the family, sharing time and friendship. They offer families an opportunity to develop new relationships, ideas and skills. Families are empowered through the personal relationship which they develop with the volunteer. They are offered support for as long as is appropriate and may choose to accept or opt out of the relationship at any time. Home-Start is not normally a crisis intervention service although the volunteer may be able to respond to a crisis in the family once the relationship is established. Home-start is committed to offering a service to families regardless of religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or ethic background. Our work clearly meets the key issues in “The Community Plan”
Contribution to Partnership	Home-Start ( Bournemouth & Poole) is a voluntary organisation in which volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to young families under stress in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown and emphasising the pleasures of family life. Home-Start (Bournemouth & Poole) provides a breathing space for parents and elbowroom for many professional workers who refer any family with at least one child under school-age to the scheme.
