The Agency at a National, Regional and local level is involved with numerous forums and networks depending on the particular work area involved. As previously mentioned LEAPs are used as a vehicle to consult on actions across the entire remit of the Agency. Consultation exercises are also undertaken for specific work areas such as those for Salmon Action Plans and Catchment Abstraction management Strategies. The Agency is also responsible for issuing a number of authorisations and permits for which consultation is undertaken on a statutory basis. The South Wessex Area Environment Group acts as an advisory body and a link between the Agency and local communities. It consists of 20 representatives recruited every three years, from a variety of interest across the area.
