| What we do |
The Benefits Agency employs 404 staff in Dorset District, 246 of them in Bournemouth. We are proud to have attained IIP status and we actively encourage our staff to study for NVQ's. Five members of staff have recently completed their NVQ's, with another eleven working towards qualifications in Management, Administration, Customer Services and Information Technology. Our District Manager is a member of the chartered institute of personnel and development. | Contribution to Partnership | The Benefits Agency is part of the Department of Social Security. We provide an important service not just to the residents of Bournemouth but to millions of people and families throughout Great Britain and abroad. We pay social security benefits based on a person's individual circumstances, following the rules set down by Parliament. We are helping to create a modern social security service, and our aim is to pay the right money to the right person at the right time whenever benefit is needed. Equally, by working closely with The Employment Service, we encourage independence from benefits. We promote and support the search for work, for those who are able to work. Our main office is at 20-28 Cotlands Road, Bournemouth, BH1 3RS. We are open from 08.30 to 15.30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 09.30 to 15.30 on Wednesday. Our telephone number is 01202 446000. |
