| What we do |
The Society will continue its work with the Council and other agencies in the furtherance of its aims in the environmental, planning, recreational and related fields. To this end within the partnership it specifically will support and assist wherever possible in the achievement of the specific aspects it has to date identified, as those to which the Society can make a contribution. The Society is represented on the Local Development Framework Study Group, where it is contributing to the establishment of new planning policies for the towns more sustainable future.
|
| Contribution to Partnership | A progressive and caring Society working to conserve the best of the historical and architectural heritage of the town and securing good quality development for the future. To these ends we achieve our objectives through consultations with the Council on major policy documents and meeting with leading Councillors and Directors of the Council about town planning, transportation and recreation issues. We seek the preservation of individual buildings and areas of character and propose improvements to the town, acting as a think tank and visionary body. We put our ideas into practice by sponsoring new community facilities and participating in environmental networks. |
