What we are already doing

3.8.1 Increase paid employment for more sick and/or disabled people from across Bournemouth

Already we have...

1. Supported the successful implementation of Employment and Support Allowance (which replaced Incapacity Benefits from October 2008).

2. Introduced a Drug’s Co-ordinator allowing customers with drug issues to access specialist help more easily and help them move towards work

Introduced a Mental Health Co-ordinator to facilitate links between mental health and employment services.

We will...

1. Continue to support the successful implementation of Employment and Support Allowance, Learning & Skills Council (LSC) and European Social Fund funded programmes such as Skills for Life, and Pre-employment Training Programmes (Skills4Jobs) programmes during 2008/09.

2. Continue to promote Pathways Services to improve the opportunities for employment to people with a health condition or disability who are claiming Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or incapacity benefits.
