Already we have...
1. Supported learners with special educational needs well, so that they make good progress. Children are supported in participating in a range of appropriate cultural and leisure activities.
A wide-ranging programme of improvement is being undertaken through our Aiming High for disabled children Short-Term Breaks Pathfinder work, working closely with Poole and Dorset. The views of children and young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities are listened to and they are helped to make a positive contribution. They are protected from abuse and exploitation and effective support is provided to parents to prevent disabled children and young people from becoming looked after. Multi-agency transitional arrangements are in place, developed with all relevant partners including education, social care, healthcare, Connexions and housing and they are well supported through the process of transition to Adult Services.

2. We work with children with disabilities, ethnic minorities or are disadvantaged in some way or socially excluded from dysfunctional families, some in care, “at risk” or “in need”. We do considerable preventative work by providing a safe place for these children to play and introduce them to positive activities and interests and keeping them active. Some are professionally referred.
